What makes the N Series distinct in the River Pools lineup: it is the only plunge pool River Pools makes. Every other River Pools series is built for full-yard installation. The N Series is built for small yards, courtyards, side-yard installs, and any project where a 16-foot footprint is the maximum that fits.

Who the N Series Is Built For

The N Series fits you if you want:
  • A real inground fiberglass pool in a yard that cannot hold a full-size shell.
  • A cool-down soak after work or after a workout.
  • A standing-depth pool you can step into rather than swim through.
  • A low-maintenance pool footprint with reduced chemical and water volume.
  • A modern, clean rectangular plunge profile.
It's a less efficient match if you want:
  • Lap swimming. The 16-foot length is not a swim distance. For lap training, pick an Endless Pools swim spa (which actually fits in a smaller footprint than an R-Series pool and gives you continuous swim distance).
  • Multi-user active play. The N Series footprint holds two to four adults comfortably; for full-family use, pick a larger shell like the R Series or A Series.
  • A real deep end. The N Series is flat-bottom and shallow throughout.
  • Auto-cover compatibility. Pick R Series or another auto-cover-ready series.

Models in the N Series

Model Dimensions Sitting Ledge Floor Profile
N16 8'4" × 16' No Flat-bottom
N16L 8'4" × 16' Yes (built-in) Flat-bottom

The N16 and N16L share the same footprint. The N16L adds a built-in sitting ledge along one edge, which gives you in-water seating without giving up plunge floor space.

Flat-Bottom Plunge Layout

The N Series uses a flat-bottom plunge geometry, which means the pool holds water at one consistent depth across the entire shell. Three structural advantages of the plunge configuration:

  1. Reduced water volume. A smaller pool holds less water, which means lower chemical load, faster heating, and lower utility bills.

  2. Fits in yards a full-size pool can't. The 8'4" × 16' footprint fits in courtyards, side-yard runs, and small backyard sections that wouldn't accommodate even the R20 (10' × 20').

  3. Faster install. Smaller excavation, smaller decking, faster total project time than a full-size pool.

The plunge is not a substitute for a swim pool. It is the right answer when a swim pool is not feasible.

N16 vs. N16L Sitting Ledge

The N16L adds a built-in sitting ledge along one edge of the shell. The ledge sits below water at a depth designed for in-water seating, so two to three people can sit on the ledge with their shoulders above the water line while the rest of the pool stays open. The ledge does not eat into the plunge floor; it is integrated into the side of the shell.

If your N Series will get used primarily by one or two people for cool-down soaks, the N16 is enough. If the pool will host conversation, drinks, or a group of three to four adults at a time, the N16L's sitting ledge is the better fit.

N Series vs. Other River Pools Series

N Series vs. R Series

N Series vs. R Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are rectangular. The R Series is a full-size swim pool with a sloped floor; the N Series is a plunge with a flat bottom. Pick R if you have yard room and want to swim; pick N if you don't have yard room or don't need to swim.

N Series vs. A Series

N Series vs. A Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are flat-bottom. The A Series scales up to 16' × 36' as a full play pool; the N Series stays at 8'4" × 16' as a plunge. Pick A for full play space; pick N for a plunge in a tight yard.

N Series vs. a swim spa

N Series vs. a swim spa fiberglass pool comparison

The N Series is a plunge pool you step into; a swim spa is a smaller appliance that generates a swim current you can train against. If swimming is the use case, the Endless Pools swim spa lineup is a better fit at a similar footprint. If standing-depth soaking is the use case, the N Series fiberglass shell is the better fit.

N Series vs. a standalone hot tub

N Series vs. a standalone hot tub fiberglass pool comparison

The N Series is a cool-water plunge at swim-pool temperature; a hot tub is heated water for soaking. They serve different use cases. Many compact yards include both: a Hot Spring or Caldera Spas hot tub for hot soaks and an N Series for cool-down.

Common Questions

The N Series is a flat-bottom plunge at a depth designed for standing immersion. Confirm the exact depth with Seven Seas during the consultation.

No. The 16-foot length is too short for any meaningful lap distance, and the depth is set for standing rather than lap-swim. For a small-footprint swim option, pick an Endless Pools swim spa instead.

Yes. The plunge can run on a heater the same way a full-size pool does. The smaller water volume means the pool heats faster and costs less to run at temperature.

Yes. It is a permanent inground fiberglass shell with the same install permanence as any other River Pools product. Local code and insurance language vary; confirm specifics with your municipality and your insurance carrier.

No. The N Series coping is not engineered for hidden cover tracks. A safety net or a manual mesh cover is the manual option.
