River Pools Fiberglass Pools

Seven Seas Pools & Spas builds and services River Pools across our service area. Call or stop by your local Seven Seas Pools & Spas location to walk through the lineup and pick the right shell for your yard.

River Pools is one of the largest one-piece fiberglass-pool shell manufacturers in North America. The shells are built in a single piece at the River Pools manufacturing facility in Fortville, Indiana, then trucked to the install site and dropped into an excavated yard. Ten distinct series cover the practical range of what fiberglass can do: rectangular swim pools, rectangular play pools, tanning-ledge pools, integrated-spa pools, freeform pools, Roman-end pools, a deep-end specialty pool, and compact plunge pools.

About River Pools

River Pools manufactures inground fiberglass-pool shells at a dedicated facility at 840 Commerce Parkway, Fortville, Indiana, and distributes through a network of authorized installers across North America. The shells are produced in molds, finished with a marine-grade gelcoat surface, and shipped in a single piece.

Because the shell is already cured and finished when it leaves the factory, the on-site installation work is excavation, set, plumb, backfill, and decking. River Pools does not sell direct-to-consumer. Seven Seas Pools & Spas is your local River Pools builder; we handle the consultation, the dig, the set, the plumbing, the decking, and the warranty service after the pool is in.

Why Fiberglass, and Why River Pools

A one-piece fiberglass shell has three structural advantages over the alternatives:

Why Fiberglass, and Why River Pools
  • Faster install than a vinyl-liner or concrete build. The shell arrives finished. Most of the on-site time is excavation, set, backfill, and the decking around it.

  • Lower lifetime chemical and surface-care load than concrete. Concrete is porous and reactive with pool chemistry; gelcoat is not. You run less acid, less chlorine, and fewer resurfacing cycles over the life of the pool.

  • No liner replacement cycle. A vinyl liner is a wear part on a 7-to-15-year replacement clock. A gelcoat shell is not.

What separates River Pools specifically inside the fiberglass category:

  1. Ten series that map to ten different ways to use a backyard. River Pools separates lap swimming, flat-bottom play, tanning ledges, integrated spas, entertaining layouts, freeform shapes, Roman-end geometry, real deep-end use, and compact plunge-pool footprints into distinct series.

  2. Six gelcoat finishes available on every series. Arctic, Caribbean, Diamond, California, Maya, and Sandstone are available across the lineup, so the finish you pick is not constrained by the series you pick.

  3. Auto-cover compatibility designed into the rectangular series. The A, D, M, R, T, and X Series are built with cover tracks hidden under the coping for a clean automatic safety cover installation.

  4. Lifetime structural warranty plus gelcoat surface coverage. The structural piece covers the shell holding water for the original owner. The surface piece covers the gelcoat against osmotic blistering.

Gelcoat Finish Colors

Six gelcoat finishes are available across every River Pools series. The finish you pick is not constrained by the series you pick.

Arctic gelcoat finish for River Pools fiberglass pools

Arctic: A classic white base.

California gelcoat finish for River Pools fiberglass pools

California: A vibrant, true blue.

Caribbean gelcoat finish for River Pools fiberglass pools

Caribbean: A bright blue-green finish.

Diamond gelcoat finish for River Pools fiberglass pools

Diamond: A light blue finish.

Maya gelcoat finish for River Pools fiberglass pools

Maya: A deep blue-green tone.

Sandstone gelcoat finish for River Pools fiberglass pools

Sandstone: A warm tan base.

Bring sample chips home or look at installed pools in the gallery to see how each finish reads in real sunlight. Gelcoat is manufactured in batches and the finished shell may vary slightly from the sample chip, which is normal for marine-grade gelcoat and not a defect.

Add-On Features

Integrated Spa

Integrated Spa

The integrated spa is a 3-foot-deep molded-in spa with a spillway that cascades into the main pool. Available standard on the X Series (X32, X36) and as the integrated-spa variant on the I Series (I25S, I30S). The spa shares the pool's gelcoat finish and equipment pad, but runs its own filtration and heat loop. If you want one yard, one shell, one excavation, and one set of decking that covers both pool and spa, the integrated configuration is the cleanest way to do that.

Tanning Ledge

Tanning Ledge

A built-in tanning ledge sits at 8 inches or 12 inches of depth (the TL09 and TL15 configurations), with a slip-resistant textured floor and a spillway edge that cascades into the main pool. The D Series, I Series, C Series, L Series, M Series, and X Series ship with the tanning ledge molded into the shell; the A Series, R Series, T Series, and N Series do not have one. The 8-inch ledge is shallow enough to keep lounge chairs partially submerged; the 12-inch ledge is deeper for seated lounging or for keeping a toddler within easy supervision range.

Automatic Cover Compatibility

Automatic Cover Compatibility

The A Series, D Series, M Series, R Series, T Series, and X Series are engineered with the cover tracks hidden under the pool coping for a clean integration with a third-party automatic safety cover. The cover hardware itself is not a River Pools product; we order and install the cover separately as part of your turnkey package. The C Series, I Series, L Series, and N Series do not have the coping geometry for a hidden-track auto-cover.

Warranty Coverage

Warranty Coverage

River Pools warranty coverage breaks into two pieces:

  1. Structural shell warranty. Covers the fiberglass shell holding water for the life of the pool under the original owner. River Pools' written position is that the manufacturer, not the homeowner, carries the burden for repair, draining, refilling, and chemical rebalancing if the shell ever fails to hold water.

  2. Gelcoat surface warranty. Covers the gelcoat finish against osmotic blistering, the failure mode where moisture migrates through the gelcoat over time and forms small surface blisters.

Before you sign the install contract, ask Seven Seas for the printed manufacturer warranty document. Read the four questions River Pools recommends every homeowner ask:

  1. Is the warranty transferable to the next owner?
  2. How long does each piece of coverage run?
  3. What's excluded?
  4. What does each piece of coverage actually pay for if a claim is filed?

Seven Seas walks you through that document during the consultation. Do not sign a fiberglass-pool contract from any builder, ours included, without reading the manufacturer warranty first.

Compared to Concrete and Vinyl-Liner Pools

Three pool-construction methods dominate the inground market in North America: fiberglass, concrete (gunite or shotcrete), and vinyl-liner. The trade-offs:

Axis Fiberglass (River Pools) Concrete Vinyl-Liner
Install timeline 3 to 6 weeks total 3 to 6 months total 4 to 8 weeks total
Shape flexibility Fixed to manufacturer shapes Fully custom Fixed to liner shapes
Surface chemistry Inert gelcoat, low chemical load Porous, higher chemical load Vinyl liner, mid chemical load
Resurfacing or liner replacement cycle None for the life of the shell 10 to 15 years (replaster) 7 to 15 years (replace liner)
Auto-cover compatibility Built into rectangular series coping Possible but added retrofit Possible but liner-dependent
Up-front cost Mid to upper-mid Higher Lower up front, higher lifetime

For most yards, the right comparison is fiberglass vs. vinyl-liner on the front-end price, and fiberglass vs. concrete on the long-end maintenance. Seven Seas builds all three categories, and we will walk through the trade-offs for your yard during the consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

About three to six weeks from breaking ground to swim-ready, depending on weather, decking material, and any utility-line work the yard requires. The shell itself goes in on a single day.

No. The shells are molded in fixed sizes. You pick the series, then the model size within that series, then the color and add-ons. If you need a fully custom shape, fiberglass is not the right construction method; concrete is.

The shell is one line item. The spa, when integrated, is part of the shell. The cover, heater, salt system, lighting package, and decking are separate line items quoted with your Seven Seas package. Ask for the full turnkey quote so the price is apples-to-apples.

Structural failures on a one-piece fiberglass shell are rare. If one occurs and the shell fails to hold water, the River Pools structural warranty covers the repair, and the printed warranty document spells out what is covered, what is excluded, and how to file. Seven Seas handles warranty service for the pools we build.

The gelcoat is marine-grade and rated for UV exposure. Color tone may shift slightly over decades of sun, the same way any outdoor surface does, but the gelcoat itself is engineered for permanent outdoor exposure.

The R Series and M Series are the lap-swim shells in the lineup. The R40 and M35 are the closest to a true lap configuration. For dedicated lap training, an Endless Pools swim spa pairs better with serious training; for casual lap swimming as part of family use, the R or M Series is the right fit.
