What makes the A Series distinct in the River Pools lineup: it is the only rectangular shell with a true flat bottom. The R, D, M, X, and T Series all use a sloped floor from shallow to deep. The A Series stays at consistent depth from end to end, which makes it the right shell for water games, multi-generational standing-depth use, and yards where the pool gets used more for socializing than swimming.

Who the A Series Is Built For

The A Series fits you if you want:
  • A consistent-depth pool where the kids can stand anywhere, the adults can play volleyball or basketball, and nobody has to swim to keep their head above water.
  • A long bench along the side for in-water seating without giving up swim space in the center.
  • A clean, modern rectangular shape with an auto-cover-ready coping line.
  • A pool used more for play, games, and gathering than for laps.
It's a less efficient match if you want:
  • A real deep end. Pick R Series for a sloped floor, or T Series for a true 8'6" deep end.
  • A built-in tanning ledge. Pick D Series.
  • An integrated spa. Pick X Series.
  • Lap swimming. The flat bottom is shallow throughout; pick R Series or M Series for casual laps.

Flat-Bottom Floor Detail

A flat-bottom pool holds water at one depth across the entire shell. There is no shallow-to-deep slope and no defined deep end. The depth is typically set in the chest-high range for an average adult, which means kids can stand in shallower zones (closer to the wall, near the entry steps) and adults can stand throughout the pool floor.

Three use cases favor the flat-bottom geometry:

  1. Water games. Volleyball, basketball, throw-and-catch, and pool tag all work better when nobody has to tread water.

  2. Multi-generational use. Grandparents and toddlers can both stand. Nobody is left treading.

  3. Group hangouts. Standing in the water in conversation is easier when the depth is consistent.

Long Side Bench

A built-in bench runs the full length of one long side of the shell. The bench gives you in-water seating without giving up center-pool floor space. It also reads as a clean architectural line when the pool is empty or covered.

Auto-Cover Integration

The A Series coping is built with hidden tracks for an automatic safety cover. The cover passes over the pool at coping height. The flat-bottom geometry also means the cover sits at consistent height above the water across the pool, which improves cover performance and reduces sag.

Ready to build a River Pools A Series?

The A Series flat-bottom layout is easiest to understand when you compare it against River's sloped-floor shells. Seven Seas Pools & Spas can walk you through the model sizes, long side bench, gelcoat color options, auto-cover details, decking, and equipment layout before your project moves forward.

Common Questions

The exact depth varies by configuration. Confirm with Seven Seas during the consultation; the depth is set to keep average adults at chest height.

No. The flat bottom is shallow throughout. Diving requires a real deep end; for a divable shell pick the T Series T40 with an 8'6" deep end.

Yes. The consistent depth makes early-swim instruction easier because kids can stand in the same zone where they're practicing. Once they're swimming confidently in shallow water, more advanced lap practice is better suited to an R Series sloped pool or an Endless Pools swim spa.

The bench is submerged at a depth designed for in-water seating. It is not a dry deck.
