River Pools R Series Fiberglass Pool

The R Series is the classic rectangular swim pool in the River Pools lineup. Clean rectangular geometry, an open interior with a dedicated swim lane down the middle, bench seating at both the shallow and deep ends, and a coping line engineered to hide the tracks of an automatic safety cover. Six sizes from the R20 (10' × 20') up to the R40 (16' × 40'). Available in all six River Pools gelcoat finishes. Seven Seas Pools & Spas builds and services the R Series across our region.

What makes the R Series distinct in the River Pools lineup: it is the rectangular pool with the most open swim space. The tanning ledge that defines the D Series and the integrated spa that defines the X Series are both absent on the R Series, which leaves the full pool footprint as swim and play water.

Who the R Series Is Built For

The R Series fits you if you want:
  • A pool that swims well first, with a clear lane down the middle for casual laps and free swim.
  • The cleanest, most architectural rectangular look in the lineup.
  • Auto-cover compatibility built into the shell.
  • Bench seating at both ends for cool-down without a tanning ledge eating into the swim area.
  • A spec that scales: same shape across six size brackets so the choice between R20, R28, and R40 is driven by yard size, not by feature mix.
It's a less efficient match if you want:
  • A built-in tanning ledge for shallow lounging. Pick D Series for the rectangular alternative with a ledge.
  • An integrated spa. Pick X Series for the rectangular alternative with a built-in spa.
  • A freeform look with curves rather than corners. Pick I Series or C Series.
  • A real deep end you can dive into. The T Series T40 is the deep-end specialty pool.

Models in the R Series

Model Dimensions Auto-Cover Ready Yard Type
R20 10' × 20' Yes Smallest yards, courtyard installs
R24 12' × 24' Yes Compact suburban yards
R28 15' × 28' Yes Mid-size yards
R32 15' × 32' Yes Mid-to-large yards
R36 16' × 36' Yes Large yards
R40 16' × 40' Yes Largest yards, true lap-swim length

All six models share the same shape, same feature mix, same gelcoat options, and the same auto-cover-ready coping. The choice between them is driven by available yard footprint, decking budget, and how much swim length you want.

Interior Layout

The R Series interior has three zones:

  1. Shallow-end bench. A built-in bench at the shallow end gives you a place to sit and enjoy the water without floating, useful for kids, conversation, and partial-immersion cool-down.

  2. Open swim lane. The center of the pool is uninterrupted floor at a consistent shallow-to-deep slope, which is what makes the R Series usable for casual laps and free swim.

  3. Deep-end bench. A second bench at the deep end gives you cool-down seating after a swim without climbing fully out.

No tanning ledge, no integrated spa, no extra molded furniture. Everything in the shell either holds water for swimming or holds you while you sit.

Auto-Cover Integration

Every R Series shell is built with hidden cover tracks under the coping line. When you order an automatic safety cover with your Seven Seas install, the tracks tuck under the decking instead of sitting on top as a visible aluminum rail. The cover sleeve at the deep end hides under a low-profile housing.

If you live in a region where pool covers are seasonal or mandatory, the R Series is the right shell to start with: it is engineered for the cover from the factory rather than retrofitted to accept one.

R Series vs. Other River Pools Series

R Series vs. A Series

R Series vs. A Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are rectangular and auto-cover-ready. The R Series has a sloped floor from shallow to deep; the A Series is flat-bottomed at consistent depth. Pick R if you want a true deep end for swimming; pick A if you want water games, multi-generational standing-depth use, or volleyball-style play.

R Series vs. D Series

R Series vs. D Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are rectangular and auto-cover-ready. The D Series has a built-in tanning ledge; the R Series does not. Pick R if you want open swim space; pick D if you want shallow lounging.

R Series vs. M Series

R Series vs. M Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are rectangular and auto-cover-ready. The M Series adds a tanning ledge and seating zones; the R Series stays open. Pick R if you want the cleanest lap-swim shell; pick M if you want lap-swim plus entertain.

R Series vs. T Series

R Series vs. T Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are rectangular and auto-cover-ready. The T40 has an 8'6" true deep end; the R Series tops out shallower (the deep end is conventional, not specialty). Pick R for casual swim; pick T40 if you want a deep end you can actually dive into.

Common Questions

The R36 and R40 are the lap-swim sizes in the series. The R40 at 40 feet of length is the closest to a true lap configuration for casual training. For serious lap training, an Endless Pools swim spa with a current-generation Hydrodrive™ jet is a better fit because it gives you continuous swim distance from a fixed yard footprint.

The deep-end depth is conventional for a swim pool in this size class. Exact depth varies by model and is detailed in the manufacturer spec sheet, which Seven Seas reviews with you during the consultation.

No, the R Series shell is molded without a tanning ledge. If a ledge is non-negotiable, the D Series is the auto-cover-ready rectangular alternative that includes one.

Not as an integrated feature of the R Series shell, because the shell is one piece. You can install a standalone Hot Spring or Caldera Spas hot tub beside the pool on a separate equipment pad. Many R Series installs do exactly that.
