What makes the D Series distinct in the River Pools lineup: it is the rectangular pool with a real tanning ledge that still pairs with an auto-cover. The R Series is the open-swim rectangular pool. The X Series is the rectangular pool with spa plus tanning ledge. The D Series sits between them: tanning ledge yes, spa no, cover yes.

Who the D Series Is Built For

The D Series fits you if you want:
  • A clean rectangular pool with the architectural lines of an R Series, plus a real built-in tanning ledge for shallow lounging.
  • Lounge-chair-friendly shallow water that fits multiple chairs side by side.
  • A deep-end bench for cool-down after a swim.
  • Auto-cover compatibility integrated into the coping.
  • A scalable lineup: same shape across five sizes, so you can pick the model that fits your yard without changing the feature set.
It's a less efficient match if you want:
  • An integrated spa molded into the shell. Pick X Series.
  • Maximum open swim space without a ledge eating into the footprint. Pick R Series.
  • A freeform look. Pick I Series or C Series.

Models in the D Series

Model Dimensions Tanning Ledge Auto-Cover Ready
D24 12' × 24' Yes Yes
D28 15' × 28' Yes Yes
D32 15' × 32' Yes Yes
D36 16' × 36' Yes Yes
D40 16' × 40' Yes Yes

The full tanning ledge is included on every model in the series. The smaller D24 and D28 give you the same feature mix in a more compact footprint; the D36 and D40 give you the largest open swim zone behind the ledge.

Tanning Ledge Detail

The D Series tanning ledge is molded into the shell at the factory. The ledge sits at the shallow-lounge depth, which keeps partially-submerged lounge chairs above water while submerging your legs. The ledge floor uses slip-resistant gelcoat. A spillway edge between the ledge and the main pool keeps the water level even across both zones.

Typical add-ons your Seven Seas installer can quote alongside the shell:

  • A bubbler jet or two on the ledge for visual movement and air-water mixing
  • A center sleeve for an umbrella mount
  • Perimeter LED lighting that washes the ledge as well as the main pool

Deep-End Bench

A built-in bench at the deep end gives you a place to sit after a swim without climbing fully out. The bench is molded into the shell at the same time as the tanning ledge and is finished in the same gelcoat.

Auto-Cover Integration

The D Series coping line is engineered with hidden tracks for an automatic safety cover. When you order the cover with your install, the tracks tuck under the decking. The cover sleeve at the deep end hides under a flush bench or a low-profile housing.

If you have small children, live in a region that requires safety covers, or simply want one less surface to manage in winter, the auto-cover-ready coping makes the D Series a clean choice without retrofit work.

D Series vs. R Series

D Series vs. R Series fiberglass pool comparison

D Series vs. X Series

D Series vs. X Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are rectangular, auto-cover-ready, and ship with a tanning ledge. X Series adds the integrated spa; D Series does not. Pick D if you don't want the spa, or want to add a standalone hot tub separately; pick X if you want one shell that includes everything.

D Series vs. M Series

D Series vs. M Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are rectangular, auto-cover-ready, and ship with a tanning ledge. M Series prioritizes the swim lane for lap swimming; D Series prioritizes the tanning ledge for lounging. Pick D if your use is more lounging than laps.

D Series vs. C Series

D Series vs. C Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both have a tanning ledge and a deep-end bench. D Series is rectangular and auto-cover-ready; C Series is freeform and not auto-cover-ready. Pick D if the cover matters; pick C if the curves matter.

Common Questions

The ledge runs across the shallow end of the shell. Exact dimensions scale with the model size: a D40 ledge is larger than a D24 ledge. Seven Seas walks you through the per-model spec during the consultation.

Yes. Bubblers and a center umbrella sleeve are common add-ons to the D Series tanning ledge and are plumbed into the shell during the install.

Yes, the bench sits below the cover line. The cover passes over the pool at the coping height.

Not as an integrated feature of the D Series shell. A standalone hot tub installed beside the pool is the cleanest path. Many D Series installs include a Hot Spring or Caldera Spas hot tub on its own pad nearby.
