What makes the I Series distinct in the River Pools lineup: it is the freeform alternative that still gives you a real tanning ledge and an optional integrated spa. The C Series is the larger curved freeform pool, but it doesn't ship with a spa option. The I Series S models are the only freeform River Pools shells with a molded-in spa.

Who the I Series Is Built For

The I Series fits you if you want:
  • A freeform pool with curves rather than corners.
  • A built-in tanning ledge for shallow lounging.
  • An optional integrated spa (on the S models) without giving up the freeform shape.
  • A more organic backyard pool that reads as a landscape feature rather than an architectural rectangle.
It's a less efficient match if you want:
  • Auto-cover compatibility. The I Series is not engineered for hidden cover tracks; pick R Series, D Series, M Series, or X Series if the cover is non-negotiable.
  • A rectangular look. The I Series is intentionally curved.
  • A deep end designed for diving. The I Series uses a conventional deep end.

Model Dimensions Integrated Spa Tanning Ledge Auto-Cover Ready

I30 14' × 30' No Yes No

The S models add the integrated spa molded into the shell at the factory; the rest of the shell stays the same. The I34 is the largest configuration but is not offered with the integrated spa.

Integrated Spa Detail (I25S and I30S)

The integrated spa on the S models is a 3-foot-deep molded-in spa, attached to the pool shell at the factory, with a spillway edge that pours into the main pool. The spa shares the equipment pad with the pool but runs its own filtration and heat loop, so the spa can be heated to spa temperatures while the pool runs at swim temperature. The spillway runs while the spa is heated, which keeps the spa visible as part of the pool from a sightline standpoint.

If you're choosing between an I Series with the integrated spa or a separate standalone hot tub installed beside an I25 or I30, the trade-off is:

  • Integrated spa (S model). One shell, one excavation, one decking project, shared equipment pad. The spa is permanently part of the pool and cannot be moved.
  • Standalone hot tub beside the pool. Two installations. The hot tub can be a portable spa (a Hot Spring, Caldera Spas, or other brand) that you can move, upgrade, or replace independently of the pool.

Tanning Ledge Detail

The I Series tanning ledge is molded into the shallow end of the shell. Slip-resistant gelcoat surface, depth profile in the shallow lounging range, spillway edge to the main pool. The ledge is included on every model, with or without the spa.

Deep-End Bench

A built-in bench at the deep end gives you in-water seating after a swim without climbing fully out.

I Series vs. Other River Pools Series

I Series vs. C Series

I Series vs. C Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both are freeform with a tanning ledge and a deep-end bench. The I Series offers an integrated spa on the S models; the C Series does not. The C Series is larger (C35, C40) than the I Series (I25, I30, I34). Pick I for the smaller curved shell with optional spa; pick C for the larger curved shell.

I Series vs. X Series

I Series vs. X Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both can ship with an integrated spa. The X Series is rectangular and auto-cover-ready; the I Series is freeform and not auto-cover-ready. Pick X if the cover and rectangular look matter; pick I if the freeform shape matters.

I Series vs. L Series

I Series vs. L Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both have a tanning ledge and a deep-end bench. The I Series is fully freeform; the L Series is Roman-end (rectangular body with a rounded entry on one end). Pick I for full curves; pick L for the transitional Roman shape.

I Series vs. D Series

I Series vs. D Series fiberglass pool comparison

Both have a tanning ledge. The D Series is rectangular and auto-cover-ready; the I Series is freeform and not. Pick D for clean rectangular plus cover; pick I for freeform with optional spa.

Common Questions

No. The freeform coping is not engineered for hidden cover tracks. A safety net or a manual cover is possible; an automatic safety cover is not.

No. The spa is molded into the shell at the factory; the S models are a different shell from the non-S models. If you want the spa, order the I25S or I30S at the time of purchase.

Just the spa. The pool footprint and tanning ledge are the same.

It swims fine for casual use. For lap training, the rectangular R Series or M Series is the better fiberglass option, and an Endless Pools swim spa is the best dedicated lap-training product.
