Hydrodrive Technology

Hydrodrive™ Technology

Hydrodrive™ Technology is Endless Pools' premium swim-current platform and the defining propulsion system of the E-Series. Per Endless Pools, Hydrodrive™ delivers "a powerful yet smooth and turbulence-free, adjustable current" that lets a bather "swim, exercise, or train, with no flip turns." The system is dialed in across pace settings that run from a slow glide up to a maximum 1:08 per 100 yards (1:11 per 100 meters) competitive lap pace. The E500 runs 31 pace settings; the E550, E700, and E2000 run 116. Hydrodrive™ is exclusive to the E-Series and is the premium swim-current tier within the Endless Pools lineup. Seven Seas Pools & Spas is an authorized Endless Pools dealer; call or stop by your local location to feel the Hydrodrive™ current at multiple pace settings.

What It Is

Hydrodrive™ Technology is a dedicated swim-current propulsion system, distinct from the multi-jet currents used on lower Endless Pools tiers. The system is engineered as the brand's smoothest and most adjustable swim experience, intended for serious lap swimmers who need a fine-grained adjustable pace range and for beginners who need a slow, glide-paced setting in the same spa.

The Hydrodrive™ current is smooth, turbulence-free, and adjustable, with you staying in place while the current flows around the body. The E-Series uses Hydrodrive™ as its single signature swim-current technology, and the Underwater Treadmill is offered as an option across every E-Series model. Where the R-Series uses RecSport® and the X-Series uses SwimCross®, Hydrodrive™ is the premium-tier alternative inside the same brand.

How It Works

The mechanical specification per the Endless Pools spec grid:

  • Dedicated swim pump sized for full swim-current performance (the E500, E700, and E2000 global zone are spec'd at 5 HP; the E550 is spec'd at 2.5 HP)
  • Pace settings at 31 on the E500 and 116 on the E550, E700, and E2000, dialed through the spa's control interface
  • 230 V / 60 amp / 60 Hz electrical service across the E-Series, with an included GFCI sub-panel
  • Maximum pace of 1:08 per 100 yards (1:11 per 100 meters) at the top of the adjustable range
  • 4,000 W / 230 V heater sized for year-round operation
  • Optional Underwater Treadmill installed in the swim zone across every E-Series model, with the treadmill belt speed engineered to track the current

The result is a single swim-current platform that scales from a beginner-friendly slow current up to a competitive race-pace ceiling, controlled through the same interface and powered by the same dedicated pump.

Where It Ships

Hydrodrive™ Technology is standard equipment on every E-Series model carried at Seven Seas. The E-Series is the only Endless Pools tier that ships with Hydrodrive™.

E-Series (Premium Tier, 4 Models)

E-Series (Premium Tier, 4 Models)

  • E2000, 20-foot dual-temperature flagship, 116 pace settings, swim zone at ~85°F running simultaneously with a 5-foot 104°F spa zone
  • E700, 17-foot lap-focused, 116 pace settings, 3 hydromassage seats

  • E500, 15-foot most-compact E-Series, 31 pace settings, 3 hydromassage seats

The Underwater Treadmill is available as an option across all four models. The 14-gauge galvanized steel frame is standard across the series and is one of the structural differences between the E-Series and the wood-frame R-Series.

Hydrodrive™ vs SwimCross® vs RecSport®

The three Endless Pools swim-current technologies sit one per series, each tuned to a different swimming style and tier.

The decision between the three is rarely about the same current at different price points. It is about three different swim experiences. If you want the brand's highest pace ceiling and finest-grained adjustability reach for the E-Series with Hydrodrive™. Buyers who treat the spa as a fitness platform reach for the X-Series with SwimCross®. If you want a family-fun recreational spa at a friendlier electrical install reach for the R-Series with RecSport®.

Hydrodrive™ and the E-Series Stack

Hydrodrive™ is the propulsion technology, but the E-Series swim experience also depends on the rest of the stack:

  • 14-Gauge Galvanized Steel Frame with ABS Base Pan, the premium structural platform across the series, engineered for long-term durability on a 15-to-20-foot tank carrying up to roughly 2,400 gallons of water filled
  • APSP 14 National Standard and California Energy Commission (CEC) compliance per the published E-Series product pages
  • Molded Acrylic Shell in Alpine White or Ice Gray
  • Optional Underwater Treadmill across every model, paired with the Hydrodrive™ current for tracked-pace walking and running workouts
  • UVC + CD Ozone (Dual-layer protection) as the standard sanitization platform on the E500, E550, and E700, with the E2000 running UVC + CD Ozone in the swim zone and CD Ozone in the spa zone
  • 2-Zone Temperature Control on the E2000 flagship, running the swim zone and the spa zone simultaneously at independent temperatures
  • 4,000 W / 230 V heater with an included GFCI sub-panel

Hydrodrive™ does the swimming. The rest of the stack determines what happens in the spa once the swim session ends.

Buying Considerations

The 31-step adjustability on the E500 is sufficient for most household swimmers, and the maximum pace ceiling of 1:08 per 100 yards is the same as on the higher-step models. The 116-step adjustability on the E550, E700, and E2000 is the fine-grained option. Serious lap swimmers who want to dial in pace at sub-second-per-100-yard precision should reach for one of the 116-step models. Recreational and intermediate swimmers do well on the 31-step E500.

The E-Series requires 230 V / 60 amp / 60 Hz service at the spa. The included GFCI sub-panel ships with the spa; the wiring run to the sub-panel is the buyer's responsibility, coordinated by Seven Seas with a licensed electrician. If you have a 30-amp service constraint should look at the R-Series (RecSport®) instead.

The Underwater Treadmill is configured at order, not retrofitted later in most cases. The treadmill is engineered to pair with the Hydrodrive™ current, with the belt speed tracking the swim current for walking and running workouts. It is a meaningful displacement of water volume in the swim zone (and adds dry weight on the order of 125 pounds on the E500), so it changes the swim feel slightly. Seven Seas advisors walk customers through the trade-off during the showroom visit.

Hydrodrive™ is the kind of feature best evaluated in the water. The published pace range describes the swim envelope, but the swim feel at low, mid, and high pace settings is something a buyer has to experience. Seven Seas advisors arrange private wet-test soak appointments with the swim current running at multiple pace settings. Call or stop by your local location to confirm which E-Series models are currently on display.

Hydrodrive™ does not require feature-specific maintenance beyond the standard E-Series routine. UVC + CD Ozone covers daily sanitization; filtration runs on the standard monthly cadence covered in the swim-spa filter care guide; drain-and-refill intervals are longer than on a hot tub because the volume is roughly 4 to 7 times higher.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Hydrodrive™ is the dedicated E-Series swim-current technology. The R-Series uses RecSport® and the X-Series uses SwimCross®. The three are engineered as separate platforms, one per series.

The maximum pace is 1:08 per 100 yards (1:11 per 100 meters) at the top of the adjustable range. That is a competitive race-pace ceiling for most household swimmers.

The 31-step adjustability on the E500 sets the current at one of 31 discrete levels from slow to maximum. The 116-step adjustability on the E550, E700, and E2000 sets it at one of 116 discrete levels across the same range. Both top out at the same 1:08-per-100-yard maximum pace. The 116-step versions give finer-grained control for swimmers who want to dial in race-pace effort precisely.

Per the Endless Pools spec grid, the E500, E700, and E2000 (global zone) list the swim pump at 5 HP. The E550 spec lists 2.5 HP. The current quality and pace ceiling are tuned at the system level rather than read off the HP number alone.

Yes. The Underwater Treadmill is an option across every E-Series model: E500, E550, E700, and E2000. It is a configuration choice made at order. Ask your Seven Seas advisor for current treadmill availability and pricing.

Endless Pools is the official Swim Spa Supplier of USA Swimming and the U.S. Swim Team. The brand carries that designation across its swim-spa lineup. The E-Series with Hydrodrive™ is the premium platform within that lineup and is the one most often paired with serious lap-swimmer use cases.

The E-Series runs 230 V / 60 amp / 60 Hz with an included GFCI sub-panel. If you have a 30-amp service constraint should consider the R-Series (RecSport®), which runs 230 V / 30 amp standard with a 60-amp optional upgrade.

Yes. Call or stop by your local Seven Seas location to see which E-Series models are currently on display and to book a private wet-test soak appointment with the Hydrodrive™ current running at multiple pace settings.
