The High-Flow Tri-X® Filter is Hot Spring Spas' reusable ceramic-fiber filter cartridge platform. The cartridges use a no-pleat, multi-channel design that maximizes water exposure for better filtration and powerful flow, and they keep the water crystal-clear at the Highlife® and Limelight® tiers. Tri-X® cartridges are always paired with 100% No-Bypass Filtration on these two series. Tri-X® ships on every Highlife® and Limelight® model carried at Seven Seas, with effective filtration area scaling from 100 sq. ft. on smaller Limelight® models to 325 sq. ft. on the flagship Highlife® Grandee®. What It Is

Tri-X® is a reusable, no-pleat filter cartridge built on a multi-channel design. Across most Highlife® and Limelight® models, the full filtration stack is 100% No-Bypass Filtration with High-Flow Tri-X® Filters and Dual-Action Filtration. The flagship Grandee® runs 100% No-Bypass Filtration with High-Flow Tri-X® Filters in a single-cartridge configuration.

The distinctive engineering choices:

  • No-pleat construction rather than the standard pleated paper cartridge used in most spas
  • Multi-channel design engineered for maximum water exposure across the cartridge surface
  • High-flow rating so the cartridge can handle the full output of the SilentFlo 5000® circulation pump and jet pumps without flow restriction
  • Reusable cartridge that can be cleaned rather than discarded after a single use cycle

The pairing with 100% No-Bypass Filtration is the engineering point. Tri-X® alone is a cartridge specification. Tri-X® inside a 100% no-bypass loop is the Highlife® and Limelight® filtration platform.

How It Works

The mechanical pattern:

  • Continuous water flow from the SilentFlo 5000® circulation pump and the Wavemaster® jet pumps routes through the filter cartridge housing

  • Multi-channel cartridge geometry exposes water to a large surface area across the cartridge, with the no-pleat design avoiding the dead spaces between traditional pleats

  • All water passes through with no bypass path around the cartridge, per the 100% No-Bypass design

  • Dual-Action Filtration on most Highlife® and Limelight® models means two cartridges, one dedicated to circulation pump flow and one dedicated to jet pump flow, both inside the no-bypass loop

  • Cartridge cleaning is a hose-rinse routine handled by the owner on a regular cadence, with deeper cleaning periodically and replacement on the manufacturer-recommended schedule

What the lower tiers use instead

Tri-X® is the Highlife® and Limelight® cartridge platform. The two lower tiers use different filters:

  • Hot Spot® Series (affordable tier) uses Polyester Filters with Free-Flow Core inside the same 100% No-Bypass design. The no-bypass architecture is shared; the cartridge material differs.
  • Freeflow® Series (entry tier) uses a single Polyester Filter with Free-Flow Core paired with the 2-Speed 1.5 HP jet pump, without the no-bypass design.

If you're cross-shopping from Hot Spot® into Limelight® for filter reasons, the upgrade is from polyester (single-use cartridge replaced on schedule) to Tri-X® (reusable, no-pleat, multi-channel, with deep-cleaning routine). The no-bypass design is shared between Hot Spot®, Limelight®, and Highlife®.

Tri-X® cartridges are always inside the 100% No-Bypass Filtration architecture on Hot Spring spas. There is no Highlife® or Limelight® configuration that uses Tri-X® without no-bypass. The two are engineered as one platform: the no-pleat multi-channel high-flow cartridge inside the architecture where 100% of circulating water passes through the filter. Tri-X® cartridges are engineered for reuse with a deep-cleaning routine, distinct from the single-use replacement model of standard pleated paper cartridges. Owners run a hose-rinse cycle on a regular cadence and a deeper cleaning periodically. Replacement comes on the manufacturer-recommended schedule rather than after every cycle.
