Hot Spot® Series by Hot Spring Spas

The Hot Spot® Series is the value tier of Hot Spring Spas, the hot tub brand manufactured by Watkins Wellness, and sits between the mid-tier Limelight® Series above and the entry-tier Freeflow® Series below. The series is built around FiberCor® high-density insulation, FreshWater® Salt System Ready water care (the entry-tier salt platform, non-IQ), Polyester Filters with a Free-Flow Core inside a 100% no-bypass filtration cycle, the IQ 2020® LCD Control (button-driven), and 115 V plug-and-play electrical configuration on four of six models. Six models, from the two-person TX corner spa with 115 V / 15 amp plug-and-play through the seven-person Rhythm® with 40 jets and a Cooldown Seat, give households the genuine Hot Spring engineering platform, the Wavemaster® pump architecture, the SilentFlo 5000® circulation pump, and the Patented Pump Shroud at a value-tier Hot Spring price point. The SX and TX are also the only Hot Spring models with the entry-tier single-stream patented Moto-Massage® jet. The Hot Spot® Series is sold and serviced through Seven Seas Pools & Spas.

Hot Spot® Series

What makes Hot Spot distinct: the broad 115 V plug-and-play lineup (4 of 6 models, the largest plug-and-play catalog in any Hot Spring tier), the lowest entry price point, the Energy Smart® System, and the entry-tier single-stream Moto-Massage® on the SX and TX if you want the patented sweeping jet at the value tier.

Who the Hot Spot® Series Is Built For

The Hot Spot® Series is built if you want the genuine Hot Spring engineering platform, Wavemaster® jet pumps, SilentFlo 5000® circulation, the Patented Pump Shroud, the IQ 2020® control architecture, FiberCor® insulation, 100% no-bypass filtration, at the value-tier price point, and if you specifically need a 115 V plug-and-play install on a panel-and-frame Hot Spring cabinet rather than the rotomolded unibody Freeflow tier below it.

Who Hot Spot® fits:
  • If you need a 115 V plug-and-play install, four of six Hot Spot models (Pace™, Stride®, SX, TX) plug into a standard 20-amp dedicated outlet (the TX uses 115 V / 15 amp, the lowest amperage in the Hot Spring catalog)
  • First-time hot tub if you want a Hot Spring spa without the cost and scheduling friction of a 230 V hardwired install
  • Couples and small households, the TX (2-seat) and Stride® / SX (3-seat) are the smallest Hot Spring footprints
  • Larger households who want a 6- or 7-person spa at the value tier, the Rhythm® (7-seat) and Relay® (6-seat lounge) deliver the full big-soak experience at the entry price
  • If you want two loungers in one tub, the Pace™ is the only Hot Spring model with a Double Lounge layout (and the only Hot Spot with the SmartJet® System)
  • Townhome, condo, and apartment owners with tight footprints, low-amperage circuits, and short delivery pathways
  • Retirees downsizing, decks with limited load capacity, screened porches, and indoor installations
  • If you want the patented single-stream Moto-Massage® jet at the value tier, see the SX and TX
It is not the right tier if you:
  • Want the patented dual-stream Moto-Massage® DX sweeping back massage, that jet is exclusive to the Highlife® Series. Hot Spot offers the entry-tier single-stream Moto-Massage® on the SX and TX only
  • Want the FreshWater® IQ Salt System, Hot Spot is FreshWater® Salt System Ready (the entry-tier salt platform, not IQ). For IQ Ready see Limelight®; for IQ Salt included standard see Highlife®
  • Want Tri-X® filtration, Hot Spot uses Polyester Filters with a Free-Flow Core. Tri-X® is a Highlife and Limelight feature
  • Want the IQ 2020® Color LCD Touchscreen, Hot Spot uses the LCD button interface. The touchscreen is exclusive to Highlife
  • Want BellaFontana® or Vidro® Backlit Ribbon water features, Hot Spot uses a simpler waterfall water feature
  • Want 7-year warranty terms, Hot Spot covers the structure 5 years and most other components 2 years. Limelight is 7-year structure / 5-year shell; Highlife is 7-year structure / 7-year shell
  • Want the most accessible Hot Spring entry price, 115 V Plug-N-Play standard on every model in the series, the FROG® cartridge water-care platform, the rotomolded unibody cabinet, or the smallest Hot Spring footprints (down to the 2-person Mini™ at 6' × 4'5"), those you should step down one tier to the Freeflow® Series (Hot Spring's entry tier, sitting below Hot Spot)

Defining Technologies

Hot Spot models are FreshWater® Salt System Ready, engineered for the entry-tier FreshWater® Salt System, with the system sold separately or bundled by Seven Seas at install. This is not the IQ Salt platform, it is the standard FreshWater® Salt System without the IQ Smart Monitoring + Dosing upgrade path. Owners can run the Hot Spot on traditional chlorine or bromine and add the salt system later. The salt-water cycle "automatically generates chlorine from salt for soft, natural-feeling water without harsh odors, itchy skin, or irritated eyes" and can hold balance for up to a full year between drain-and-refill cycles when properly maintained.

Hot Spot uses the same FiberCor® high-density fiber-blend insulation as the Limelight® Series, Hot Spring notes the density is "four times greater than the half-pound foam used in most spas." Combined with the polymeric substructure with polyethylene sealed bottom, the Patented Pump Shroud, and the Energy Smart® System, the Hot Spot tier is engineered for low operating cost despite sitting at the entry price point.

Hot Spot models use Polyester Filters with a Free-Flow Core inside a 100% no-bypass filtration cycle, every drop of water passes through filtration during jet operation. The Polyester / Free-Flow Core is the entry-tier filter; the Tri-X® high-flow filter is a Limelight and Highlife feature. The Free-Flow Core design keeps water moving through the filter media at the lower flow rates typical of entry-tier pumps.

The IQ 2020® LCD Control, button-driven LCD, is the Hot Spot main control panel. It shares the IQ 2020® control architecture with the Limelight and Highlife tiers; Hot Spot uses the LCD button interface, Limelight uses the Color LCD button interface, and Highlife uses the Color LCD Touchscreen. The Hot Spring Spas App via the Connected Spa Kit is offered as an optional smart-control upgrade for remote temperature control and diagnostic monitoring.

Four of the six Hot Spot models, the Pace™, Stride®, SX, and TX, ship convertible between 115 V plug-and-play and 230 V hardwired. The TX is unique in the Hot Spring catalog for its 115 V / 15 amp plug-and-play configuration, the lowest amperage requirement Hot Spring offers, which lets it plug into many existing 15-amp dedicated circuits without a 20-amp upgrade or a new subpanel. The Rhythm® and Relay® are 230 V hardwired only.

Wavemaster® jet pumps power the jets across the Hot Spot Series, typically the 6000 (one-speed) and 6200 (two-speed) at 1.5 HP continuous duty / 3.2 HP breakdown torque on the larger models, scaling to single-pump configurations on the smallest models. The SilentFlo 5000® circulation pump runs continuously on less power than a 40-watt light bulb. The Patented Pump Shroud captures heat from the equipment compartment and transfers it to the water.

The SX and TX include a single-stream Moto-Massage® jet, the entry-tier patented version of Hot Spring's signature moving jet. One stream of water sweeps up and down the back from a stationary seat. This is distinct from the dual-stream Moto-Massage® DX used in the Highlife® Series (two streams). If you specifically want the patented Moto-Massage® action at the value tier choose the SX or TX.

The SmartJet® System is offered on the Pace™ within the Hot Spot Series, and only on the Pace™ within this tier. SmartJet® selectively distributes water flow to specific jet groups and seats, so a solo bather or a couple can route pump capacity to the seats they occupy rather than splitting it across the whole spa. Other Hot Spot models do not include SmartJet®. Across the broader Hot Spring catalog, SmartJet® is standard on the Highlife® Series.

The Energy Smart® System is exclusive to the Hot Spot® Series within the Hot Spring catalog and is engineered to reduce overall energy consumption further than the FiberCor® / Pump Shroud / sealed-bottom envelope alone. Combined with CEC and APSP 14 compliance, the system targets the lowest possible operating cost at the value tier.

Hot Spot® Series Compared to Other Hot Spring Series

The Hot Spot® Series sits in the value tier of the Hot Spring tier ladder, Highlife (premium top tier) → Limelight (mid tier) → Hot Spot (value tier) → Freeflow® (entry tier). Hot Spot shares the engine room, Wavemaster® jet pumps, SilentFlo 5000® circulation, the Patented Pump Shroud, the IQ 2020® control architecture, FiberCor® insulation, and 100% no-bypass filtration, with the Limelight tier above. The Hot Spot tier differentiates downward from Limelight through specific feature simplifications (Polyester filters instead of Tri-X®, FreshWater® Salt Ready instead of IQ Ready, simpler waterfall instead of Vidro®, 5-year structure / 2-year shell warranty) and broadens the 115 V plug-and-play catalog. Below Hot Spot, the Freeflow tier uses an entirely different platform, rotomolded unibody cabinet, 2-Speed 1.5 HP jet pump (no Wavemaster® / no SilentFlo 5000®), FROG® cartridge water care, Spray-In Full Foam insulation, LCD Screen control, and 115 V Plug-N-Play standard on every model.

Hot Spot® vs Limelight®

Hot Spot® vs Limelight®

The Limelight® Series is the mid tier, five models built around the Vidro® Backlit Ribbon Waterfall, FreshWater® IQ Ready (most models), Tri-X® high-flow filtration, the IQ 2020® Color LCD Control, optional Wireless Music + Subwoofer, the JetStream® XL foot-and-calf jet on the Prism™, and a 7-year structure / 5-year shell warranty. Both tiers share FiberCor® insulation. If you want the IQ Salt platform, Tri-X® filtration, the Vidro® water feature, or the longer Limelight warranty step up. If you want the broader 115 V plug-and-play catalog, a lower entry price, the Energy Smart® System, the entry-tier patented Moto-Massage® on the SX / TX, or a 2-person corner spa stay at Hot Spot.

Hot Spot® vs Highlife®

Hot Spot® vs Highlife®

The Highlife® Series is the premium top tier, eight models built around the patented dual-stream Moto-Massage® DX, the FreshWater® IQ Salt System included standard, the IQ 2020® Color LCD Touchscreen, the BellaFontana® water feature, multi-layer urethane foam insulation, and a 7-year structure-and-shell warranty. The Highlife tier is the most premium Hot Spring experience in every dimension, jet engineering, water care, control system, water feature, insulation, and warranty. The Hot Spot tier delivers genuine Hot Spring engineering, Wavemaster® pumps, SilentFlo 5000®, FiberCor® insulation, the Patented Pump Shroud, IQ 2020® architecture, 100% no-bypass filtration, at a substantially friendlier price point and with the broader 115 V plug-and-play catalog.

Hot Spot® vs Freeflow®

Hot Spot® vs Freeflow®

The Freeflow® Series is the entry tier, five models built around the FROG® Sanitizing System Ready water-care platform, a Rotationally Molded high-durability unibody cabinet (single-piece rotomolded shell-and-cabinet rather than a panel-and-frame assembly), polyester filters with a free-flow core, a 2-Speed 1.5 HP jet pump (no Wavemaster® branding, no SilentFlo 5000® dedicated circulation pump), an LCD Screen control, Spray-In Full Foam insulation, the WeatherPro™ cover, and 115 V Plug-N-Play / 230 V Convertible standard on every model in the series. Freeflow tops out at 5 adults, there are no 6- or 7-person models, and bottoms out at the 2-person Mini™ at 6' × 4'5". Warranty runs 5-year structure/shell, 2-year cabinet, 1-year plumbing, 1-year components, shorter than Hot Spot on plumbing and components specifically. If you want the most accessible Hot Spring entry price, 115 V plug-and-play on every model (rather than four of six on Hot Spot), the simpler FROG® cartridge water care instead of FreshWater® Salt, the rotomolded unibody cabinet's relocation-friendly construction, or the smallest Hot Spring footprints in the catalog step down one tier to Freeflow. If you want salt-water sanitization, FiberCor® insulation, the Wavemaster® / SilentFlo 5000® pump combination, the patented single-stream Moto-Massage® on the SX / TX, the SmartJet® System on the Pace™, a 6- or 7-person capacity, or the longer plumbing and components warranty terms stay at Hot Spot.

Hot Spot® Series Compared to the Caldera Spas Equivalent

Seven Seas Pools & Spas carries both Hot Spring and Caldera, Watkins Wellness's two flagship hot tub brands. The natural cross-brand parallel for the Hot Spot® Series is the Caldera Vacanza® Series, Caldera's value-mid tier, which sits in the same position on the Caldera tier ladder that Hot Spot occupies on the Hot Spring ladder. (The cross-brand parallel for the entry-tier Freeflow is the Caldera Fantasy® Series.)

The two brands take different approaches to value-tier hot tub design:

  • Hot Spring Hot Spot® centers on FiberCor® insulation, the FreshWater® Salt System Ready platform, the IQ 2020® LCD Control, 115 V plug-and-play on four of six models, the Energy Smart® System, and the entry-tier patented single-stream Moto-Massage® on the SX and TX. The 6- and 7-person Hot Spot models (Relay®, Rhythm®) parallel the larger value-tier hot tubs in the Caldera Vacanza® Series. The smaller plug-and-play Hot Spot models (Stride®, SX, TX) also parallel the smaller-capacity end of the Vacanza lineup at the same value tier.
  • Caldera Vacanza® uses Caldera's own seat ergonomics, jet patterns, and visual aesthetic, building a different value-tier "feel" using the broader Watkins Wellness platform.
Hot Spot® Series compared

Both are excellent in different ways. Both share the FreshWater® Salt family. The choice usually comes down to which jet pattern, which seat ergonomics, and which visual aesthetic suits you. Seven Seas carries both. Call, live chat, or check with your local Seven Seas Pools & Spas showroom for current display availability. The full Caldera vs Hot Spring comparison covers the platform differences in detail.

Ready to compare Hot Spot® models in person?

The Hot Spot® Series is sold and serviced through Seven Seas Pools & Spas. Call or stop by your local location to see which Hot Spot® models are currently on display . When models are on the floor, comparing them in person is the fastest way to feel the entry-tier patented Moto-Massage® on the SX and TX, try the Double Lounge layout on the Pace™, and compare 7-seat open seating (Rhythm®) against 6-seat lounge (Relay®) at the value tier. Seven Seas advisors can also walk through a side-by-side comparison against the Caldera Vacanza® Series for cross-brand cross-customers, or step down one tier to the Freeflow® Series (Hot Spring's entry tier) if you want 115 V plug-and-play standard, FROG® cartridge water care, and the smallest Hot Spring footprints in the catalog.

Buying Considerations for the Hot Spot® Series

Four of the six Hot Spot models ship convertible between 115 V plug-and-play and 230 V hardwired. The TX is uniquely 115 V / 15 amp (the lowest amperage in Hot Spring's catalog). The Rhythm® and Relay® are 230 V hardwired only. Plug-and-play installs need a dedicated GFCI-protected outlet within reach of the spa cord; 230 V installs need a licensed electrician to wire the included GFCI sub-panel. Seven Seas coordinates installation through the installation service.

The trade-off: a 230 V install delivers a 4,000 W heater (vs. 1,000 W on 115 V), faster recovery from cover-off, and the ability to run jets and heater simultaneously. The 115 V plug-and-play option removes the install cost and scheduling friction at the cost of slower recovery in cold weather.

Hot Spot filled weights span roughly 2,400 lbs (TX class) to 4,820 lbs (Rhythm® / Relay®). A level reinforced concrete pad, a deck rated for the filled weight, or a prepared spa pad is required, plus 24" of service clearance on at least one side. The TX's 6' × 6' corner footprint slots into spaces that don't accommodate a square or rectangular tub.

Every Hot Spot model is FreshWater® Salt System Ready, the entry-tier salt platform (non-IQ). The salt system itself is sold separately and commonly bundled by Seven Seas at install. Households can also run the Hot Spot on traditional chlorine or bromine and add salt later. If you specifically want the IQ Salt platform with optional Smart Monitoring + Dosing step up to the Limelight® Series (IQ Ready, system sold separately) or the Highlife® Series (IQ Salt included standard). If you want the simpler FROG® cartridge water-care platform instead of salt step down one tier to the Freeflow® Series.

Hot Spot® Series warranties run 5 years on structure and 2 years on shell surface / cabinet / no-leak plumbing / No-Fault® heater / components / interior lighting. The 5-year structure and 2-year shell coverage is the standard term across the Hot Spot Series. If you want longer coverage step up to the Limelight® Series (7-year structure / 5-year shell) or the Highlife® Series (7-year structure / 7-year shell). Below Hot Spot, the Freeflow® Series runs 5-year structure/shell, 2-year cabinet, 1-year plumbing, 1-year components, shorter than Hot Spot specifically on plumbing and components. Seven Seas honors and processes warranty claims for every Hot Spot sold.

Maintenance and Ownership

Hot Spot ownership shares the same Hot Spring rhythm as the Limelight and Highlife tiers. Ongoing maintenance touchpoints:

  • Salt system management, the FreshWater® Salt System (when fitted) follows the same cartridge-replacement cycle covered in the salt-water hot tub care guide in the owners area
  • Polyester filter cleaning runs on a monthly cadence, see the filter care guide. The Free-Flow Core inside a 100% no-bypass design means filters work whenever jets run
  • Annual drain and refill typically every 8-12 months depending on use; the salt system can hold balance for up to a full year between cycles when properly maintained
  • Winterizing, see the winterizing guide for cold-weather considerations and full shutdown if you choose to drain seasonally
  • Cover care, the WeatherPro™ 4" Tapered Core cover with hinge seal ships custom-fit. Cover lifters (CoverCradle®, CoverCradle II, UpRite®, Lift 'n Glide®) are optional add-ons across the Hot Spot Series
  • Optional Wireless Music System with Subwoofer and Ozone System are factory or dealer add-ons on most Hot Spot models

For ongoing professional care, Seven Seas offers the water care service, periodic drain-and-refill, balance check, and filter replacement carried out by trained technicians.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hot Spot is the value tier in the Hot Spring Spas catalog, sitting between the mid-tier Limelight above and the entry-tier Freeflow® below. It uses the same IQ 2020®-class engineering platform, Wavemaster® jet pumps, SilentFlo 5000® circulation, the Patented Pump Shroud, FiberCor® insulation, the IQ 2020® control architecture, 100% no-bypass filtration, and pairs it with simpler component choices: FreshWater® Salt System Ready (non-IQ), Polyester Filters with Free-Flow Core (not Tri-X®), the IQ 2020® LCD Control (button-driven, not touchscreen), simpler waterfall water feature, the Energy Smart® System, broad 115 V plug-and-play availability (4 of 6 models), and a 5-year structure / 2-year shell warranty. The Freeflow tier below Hot Spot uses an entirely different platform, rotomolded unibody cabinet, FROG® cartridge water care, 2-Speed 1.5 HP pump (no Wavemaster® / no SilentFlo 5000®), LCD Screen control, at the entry-tier price point.

Six: Rhythm® (7-seat open seating), Relay® (6-seat with lounge), Pace™ (5-seat Double Lounge with SmartJet®), Stride® (3-seat with lounger), SX (3-seat open seating with single-stream Moto-Massage®), and TX (2-seat corner with single-stream Moto-Massage®).

The Rhythm®, 7 adults with open seating and an elevated Cooldown Seat, 40 jets, 7' × 7' × 36" footprint, 230 V hardwired. The Relay® shares the same 7' × 7' footprint and 40-jet count but is configured for 6 adults with a Lounge Seat instead of 7-seat open seating.

The TX, 2 adults in a corner-focused 6' × 6' footprint, 11 jets, 115 V / 15 amp plug-and-play. The TX is the smallest spa within the Hot Spot tier and uses the lowest amperage requirement Hot Spring offers. Across the entire Hot Spring catalog, the smallest spa is actually the Mini™ in the Freeflow® Series (2 adults with lounge in a 6' × 4'5" × 29" footprint), if you specifically want the absolute smallest Hot Spring footprint should look at Freeflow.

Four of the six: the Pace™, Stride®, SX, and TX. All four ship convertible between 115 V plug-and-play and 230 V hardwired. The TX is uniquely 115 V / 15 amp (vs. 20 amp on the others), the lowest amperage in the Hot Spring catalog. The Rhythm® and Relay® are 230 V hardwired only. For 115 V Plug-N-Play standard on every model in the series, step down one tier to the Freeflow® Series, the only Hot Spring tier where 115 V plug-and-play is the default across the entire lineup. See plug-and-play hot tubs for cross-series options.

Four of the six: the Relay® (single lounger plus Bucket and Bench Seats), the Pace™ (Double Lounge, two side-by-side loungers, the only Hot Spring with this layout), the Stride® (single lounger with low step-in height), and the TX (corner-focused with lounge seating). The Rhythm® and SX are open-seating layouts.

The SX and TX include the entry-tier patented single-stream Moto-Massage® jet, one stream of water sweeps up and down the back from a stationary seat. The other four Hot Spot models do not include a Moto-Massage® jet. The patented dual-stream Moto-Massage® DX (two streams) is exclusive to the Highlife® Series. If you want the patented Moto-Massage® action at the value tier choose the SX or TX; if you want the dual-stream DX version step up to Highlife.

Hot Spot® Series warranties run 5 years structure and 2 years shell surface / cabinet / no-leak plumbing / No-Fault® heater / components / interior lighting. If you want longer coverage step up to the Limelight® (7-year structure / 5-year shell) or the Highlife® (7-year structure / 7-year shell). Seven Seas processes warranty claims for every Hot Spot sold.

No. Every Hot Spot model is FreshWater® Salt System Ready, the entry-tier salt platform, meaning the spa is engineered for the salt system, with the system itself sold separately and commonly bundled by Seven Seas at install. This is not the IQ Salt platform. For IQ Ready spas (system sold separately) see the Limelight® Series; for IQ Salt included standard see the Highlife® Series; for the simpler FROG® cartridge water-care platform (no salt) step down one tier to the Freeflow® Series.

Hot Spot and the Caldera Vacanza® Series occupy the same value tier on their respective brand ladders. Hot Spot centers on FiberCor® insulation, the FreshWater® Salt System Ready platform, the IQ 2020® LCD Control, 115 V plug-and-play on four of six models, the Energy Smart® System, and the entry-tier patented single-stream Moto-Massage® on the SX and TX. The Caldera Vacanza® Series takes a different approach, Caldera's own seat ergonomics, jet patterns, and visual aesthetic. Both deliver excellent value-tier hydrotherapy from the same Watkins Wellness platform, and the choice usually comes down to which jet pattern and which seat ergonomics suit you. Seven Seas carries both. Call, live chat, or check with your local Seven Seas Pools & Spas showroom for current display availability. (For the cross-brand parallel to the entry-tier Freeflow Series, see the Caldera Fantasy® Series.)

The Hot Spot Series supports the full Hot Spring accessory program: CoverCradle®, CoverCradle II, UpRite®, or Lift 'n Glide® cover lifters; Hot Spot® Series Steps; an optional Wireless Music System with Subwoofer; and an optional Ozone System. Music, subwoofer, and ozone are factory or dealer add-ons rather than standard.
